Meet Erynn Besser, LCPC, CST

They are deeply curious about how people find meaning and create belonging in a world that experiences increasing isolation. Their perspective is shaped by lived experience and navigating systems that don’t always allow the space to be who you are.

Erynn is drawn to the places where liberation, pleasure, creativity, and community care meet. They believe that having more access to resources, knowledge, connection, and opportunities for pleasure can help people build lives that feel more expansive and more fully their own.

Erynn’s approach is rooted in harm reduction, pleasure activism, anti-oppressive practice, and the belief that people are the experts on their own lives. They are especially passionate about challenging the shame and stigma that surround our bodies, sexuality, relationships, substance use, neurodivergence, identity, and the many ways people move through the world. Rather than asking people to become more acceptable to existing systems, Erynn is interested in imagining what becomes possible when we build spaces and communities that make room for people as they are.

Erynn moved to Chicago in 2010, earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University in 2015 and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2018. They became an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist in 2021. In 2023, Erynn founded Healing Revival Collective as an expression of their belief that care can live beyond traditional institutions and clinical spaces.

Erynn lives in Humboldt Park with their partner and is a proud house-witch (a playful way of describing their love of cultivating spaces and setting a vibe). They can usually be found dancing to music in their living room, wandering the streets of Chicago, connecting with friends, or at a live show or music festival.

They believe that play and being a little weird are not distractions from the work of creating a better world. They are part of it.

Erynn is a queer, neurodivergent self-proclaimed weirdo who finds joy in community, live music, and the little things that make life feel pleasurable.
